The role of Madge opposite Robert Horton was a difficult one for me to play. It was still quite early in my career - only my second professional job - and Bob was extremely supportive and helpful to me. I found the character difficult in that it was hard to keep her from just being a pretty girl with no depth. There is substance to her, which I appreciate more now that I am older. At the time, I felt that she was shallow, vapid. Life and experience have allowed me to see colors in the performance which I couldn't at that time.
